EFEITO MAGENTA appeared in a street project, exclusively in stencil. This project consists of spreading hearts with a reason, to spread the dark side of love. The theme was chosen because love makes the world go round. We can have everything, but without love we are empty, but at the same time we are aware that love has its evil side, which has the power to hurt us. Therefore, three keywords are engraved inside their respective hearts. The words are: Pain, Hate and Hurt. They aim to make people conscious that in love, not everything is pink, hence the magenta colour. It’s called Efeito magenta, in english, ‘magenta effect’, because it’s the pink effect that hearts transmit to people, and to the city. And it’s the beginning of a project called “Love Project”. The artist is 21 years old and is a design finalist. She started doing Street Art about a year ago and is one of the few feminine artists in today’s scene. She is associated with stencil but is currently working on projects more involved with graffiti. As a designer she feels the need to contribute to society and this specific artwork was born out of chance: as she was doing the stencil, she painted the semaphore pink while waiting for a friend.
