Jef Aerosol. Amália Rodrigues. (Tv da Queimada, 3)

In this work, Jef Aerosol uses the technique of stencil over paper. This French artist started his career in Tours, Orléans and Nantes in the beginning of the 80’s. In 1985 his work crossed these frontiers, with a frequent presence in Paris and London. A student of the art of serigraphy, this creative process will be following his career as a street artist. Jef Aerosol’s passage through Lisbon in 2007 has left a mark in urban art. Raising the bar of the stencil work that is usually seen in Lisbon.
Lisbon is also noted for works about Fernando Pessoa and Amália Rodrigues, like the one standing in front of you. The icons of the Portuguese language are interpreted as street artists, in the same style as Jef Aerosol had painted the Rolling Stones and John Lennon previously. The success in Lisbon was such that he has his work scattered across Bairro Alto, Bica, Alfama and Rossio. Most of the two works mentioned above, as well as work titled «Sitting Kid» have been ripped by passers by. Get to know more about http://www.jefaerosol.free.fr
